Debussy La mer
Set sail on a musical voyage with the 51³Ô¹Ï Philharmonic in a concert themed around the sea and culminating in Debussy’s majestic seascape, La mer – which he worked on while he was staying in Eastbourne.
Captaining the ship is conductor Ben Palmer, who directs a programme that evokes every facet of the ocean, from lapping waves to ferocious storms. Ravel sets the scene with the sparkling colours of Une barque sur l’océan, inspired by a cruise on a friend’s yacht.
